The second day of the Annual REFORC Conference at KU Leuven offered a varied and full program, with something for everyone.
One of the greatest attractions of the REFORC conference is the book display. Also this year at the Annual REFORC Conference, the publishers treated the participants with a multitude of eye catching, tempting and graciously discounted publications. The book room once again also proved to be the perfect meeting room for good talks and good coffee.
But, actually this was the side show for another day of plenaries and short papers demonstrating how rich this field of early Modern Christianity is. The lectures of Brian P. Owensby (Toward a Moral History of the Rich), Nina Javette Koefoed (The Lutheran Household – a Social and Institutional Legacy in Danish Society) and Keith Stanglin (Arminianism and the Economy of Salvation) connected the various session with shortpapers.
Interesting was the interdisciplinary approach in the plenaries in which history, theology, economics and ethics were connected in such a way that the relevance of this research became evident right away.
Highlight of the day was the announcement of the winner of the REFORC Book Award. The success of this Award creates a challenge for the committee with a growing number of submissions but they found a winner and she was even present through a zoom connection.
Nataliia Sinkevych received the award. She thanked all wo supported her writing her book “The Religiosæ Kijovienses Cryptæ by Johannes Herbinius (1675): a Description of Kyiv and Its “Sacral Space” in Early Modern Multiconfessional Discourse”.
The zoom talk with Nataliia was the only digital talk in the conference. Now that we can meet again in person, also REFORC wants to enjoy this in full!
