Online Courses for Students of Reformation History
26 April 2024
Strengthening language skills and becoming familiar with manuscripts.
For students of Reformation history who want to learn and practice Latin, the Wittenberg Center for Reformation Studies offers online courses. Small groups either work through the “Primer of Ecclesiastical Latin” or translate Latin sources such as John Jewels “Apologia ecclesiae anglicanae” (1562) or Rufinus’ translation of Origens commentary on Romans.
In addition to the Latin course program, a new course on early modern German and sixteenth-century English, German, and Latin manuscripts will begin on May 1, 2024. This new course will focus one week on early modern German and the other week on 16th-century palaeography. Basic knowledge of both is required to participate. It is possible to attend only every second week.
