KU Leuven is delighted to invite you to the academic session celebrating 50 years Maurits Sabbe Library, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 16.30 hrs. in the Aula Maior of the Maria Theresia College, Sint-Michielsstraat 6, 3000 Leuven.
Historian Mark Derez will introduce us to the architecture of the Maurits Sabbe Library and the underlying vision of its founder Maurits Sabbe and architect Paul Van Aerschot. Archivist and historian Gustaaf Janssens will shed light on the figure of Maurits Sabbe, based on his extensive archive. As keynote speaker, John F. Kutsko, head of ATLA (American Theological Library Association) will map out the current situation and future perspectives of theological libraries worldwide. In between, partners, researchers, and students will show the Maurits Sabbe Library through their eyes. The vocal ensemble Psallentes will perform the musical intermezzi.
Afterward, we look forward to welcoming you to the exhibition on 50 years Maurits Sabbe Library and to continuing our conversation at a festive reception.
