This book provides an overview of the development of cathedral construction in the most important confessions of global, episcopal Christianity. However, it has less to do with architecture or art history than with church and confessional history. The volume views the history of cathedral construction as a paradigm of both the history of Christianity in general and its ongoing prospects in Europe and the rest of the world.
