Aarhus University is inviting additional members, especially from Central and Southern Europe, to form a network around inner-European colonialism in a longue durée perspective.
The Department of History and Classical Studies of Aarhus University is in the process of applying for COST (European Cooperation in Science & Technology) action network funding, and is looking for additional network members primarily from their list of inclusiveness target countries.
The idea is to form a network around inner-European colonialism in a longue durée perspective, from the Middle Ages until today, and to discuss the use of terms like postcoloniality, indigeneity, and inter-Imperiality between scholars of different disciplines and across Europe. The aim is to work towards a common vocabulary for historically determined forms of exclusion and marginalization, like racism.
Since the COST networks require a very specific setup of the network members and already have quite a number of historians and archaeologists from countries around the Baltic Sea have joined, the organizers are looking for Central and Southern European scholars from the following fields: sociology, psychology, anthropology, theology/Religious Studies, philosophy/ethics, or literature and language. Junior scholars (under the age of 40) are particularly welcome.
