REFORC Paper Award 2025 Goes to Cristina Fontcuberta and Quintí Vinyes

Cristina Fontcuberta and Quintí Vinyes (Barcelona) won the REFORC Paper Award 2025 for their paper that was presented during the Fourteenth Annual REFORC Conference on Early Modern Christianity in Vienna, May 2025.

Papers

Scholars who presented a short paper during the recent Fourteenth Annual REFORC Conference on Early Modern Christianity have been invited to submit their paper for the Award, resulting in 19 submissions of papers on a variety of topics.

All papers have been reviewed from the perspective of originality of topic and research, methodological and literary quality and the presentation of new insights. The committee felt that the article by the two scholars from the University of Barcelona most complied with the criteria.

Art in Confessional Conflicts

The paper of Cristina Fontcuberta and Quintí Vinyes, entitled Image, Religion and Rebellion. Use and Absence of Combative Art in Early Modern Catalonia, addresses the essential role of art in confessional conflicts, and gives account of some iconographies in the Catalan territory.

Prize

The Award comes with a prize of 500 euros and inclusion of  the article in the Journal of Early Modern Christianity.
