After sixteen years, the international museum of the Reformation in Geneva (MIR) is transforming. You can help the MIR bring to life their project.
The International Museum of the Reformation is reforming. Sixteen years after its opening, the Museum transforms its itinerary, allowing future visitors to access the museum through another entrance and to visit a brand new area for temporary exhibitions. Its surface area has increased by 20% and its ground floor is now accessible across the Maison Mallet, the historical building hosting the museum, thanks to the opening of a passage in its south wing. But what made the first 16 years of the MIR such a success has been integrated in the new project. The future permanent exhibition will follow a chronological and thematic logic to guide visitors across the history of the Reformation over five centuries, in Geneva and beyond.
While the scenography differs from the previous one, it has still managed to integrate the essential works of art and historical objects that have made the museum a success. Education, interactivity, diversity and visitor experience were the subject of a specific focus.
Thanks to the new space created by the transformation, an average of two temporary exhibitions in various types are to be offered each year, while the large entrance hall (the former Grand Salon) was designed as a versatile space used for visitors’ reception, event planning and private booking.
