The history of the Reformation in the electorate of Brandenburg has long been neglected. In connection with the anniversary of the Reformation in 2017, research again turned to this event that deeply influenced the history of an important territorial state. One of the fruits of the rediscovery of Brandenburg’s Reformation history is the present two-volume collection of sources. More than 240 texts trace its development from Johann Tetzel’s proclamation of indulgences in 1517 to the failure of the ʻSecond Reformationʼ in 1615.
